Mindfulness is...

Paying attention in a particular way, to what’s actually happening in the present moment, with an attitude of non-judging.

- Jon Kabat Zinn

Through mindfulness coaching, Meg Mindell helps individuals & groups to increase mental clarity and enhance personal and work performance.

Mindfulness meditation: A research-proven way to improve both mental and physical health.

In today’s fast moving, always connected society, our minds and bodies often have difficulty slowing down and being present. Our minds will race, wander or daydream. We are constantly tethered to cell phones, to do lists, and demands of career and home, meaning we never switch off.

Mindfulness meditation is a mental training practice that teaches you to slow down racing thoughts, let go of negativity, and calm both your mind and body. It combines  which can be defined as a mental state that involves being fully focused on "the now" so you can acknowledge and accept your thoughts, feelings, and sensations without judgment.

According to the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Clinic at UMASS, the benefits of Mindfulness training include a relaxation response that reduces the activity of the sympathetic nervous system. These effects are observed through: Lower blood pressure, Lower heart rate, Slow respiration (breathing) rate, Less anxiety, Lower blood cortisol (the stress hormone) levels, More feelings of well-being, and Deeper relaxation.

I have tried meditation in the past and found my mind wandering off as I counted the minutes until the time would end. With Meg as the facilitator of a mindfulness session I was able to come back to my center through the breath, acknowledge whatever was showing up, and experience a calm and grounding sensation. Meg's cadence and timing is powerful.  She is a gifted teacher.

I recently participated in a guided meditation led by Meg. From the first exhale, Meg's soothing voice and peaceful guidance kept my mind engaged and present. It's my normal experience for my thoughts to intrude and keep me aware of the time passing. Meg gently kept me in the moment and I was astounded when the 20 minute timer chimed that we were done. I wanted more! Gratitude to have experienced mindfulness in the space Meg skillfully held for us.
